Website Up and Running!
In between papers and studying I found the time to make a quick website (There's also a link on the left) I made it so in the future I can put up more campaigns I do easily. It's not perfect, or completely finished, but it's enough so everything I wrote about will make sense. If you click on campaigns, and then more details for Advantage Video Productions, you will see links to all the word files, and a flickr badge that links to the pictures.

Since the flickr pictures are not listed individually, here is a list with links to everything I created for this campaign:

I would love to hear comments.

Yesssssssssssssss

I officially am done. I presented on Monday. Everything went very well. I got there early to setup. There was a problem with the DVD player, but it got fixed before anyone even came in so it was ok. Everyone loved the cookies and bubbles (a few were going around the room while I presented lol). I was actually surprised. Professor Frisina introduced me and I got up and did it. I wasn't nervous at all once I was up there. I didn't mess up or stutter or say um, or anything. I guess when I am confident in what I am talking about its no problem. I did great on time: I played the demo when I spoke about schools and had time at the end to finish it. Everyone was very impressed with the media kits and the demo. I got a lot of compliments from people in my class, and most importantly my teacher.Weds I got my review back from Prof Frisina. I got an "A+" overall.

So, now the semester is winding down. I am done with classes but I have 3 papers and 3 finals to finish before I can leave. I am working on making a website to organize all of my campaign stuff.

I'm Done....Almost...

Great news I finished creating my PR presentation today!!! Everything is printed (I didn't run out of ink), stuffed into folders, taped, ect ect. Really all I need to do is practice, and set up my presentation that day. I did my first run through just to see how much time it took me. I messed up a few things and had to explain some things because I presented to a non PR major, with that said it took me about 30 minutes. AKA 15 minutes over haha. So I cut out the Diabetes Walk event, because I already have 2 charity events. Leaving me with "Big Picture Luncheon, "Buona Sera" Dinner/Auction, Video Message To Soldiers, and "Surviving Your Videographer". 4 events X 3 minutes each=12 minutes...leaving me 3 for an intro. I still think I will be over.

I saw three more people present today. Surprisingly the last girl actually did 4 events like I am doing. I think my problem is I give too much detail. I think she made it a little over but got through all of her events despite her PowerPoint not working, and she was pretty confident with speaking. The two before her also did well. Both had not trouble speaking, but only did one event with not much else besides a small giveaway (gum from one and sunscreen from another). It was nice to see someone do closer to the amount of work I did. Still, I created so many things and really took this presentation seriously.

Wish me Luck for Monday!

More Presentations

This morning I saw three more presentations. Everyone was good at public speaking. Everyone did pretty well. Everyone, yet again, only covered one event. One had only basic details and only a press sheet giveaway. Another gave away granola bars and a press release. The last one gave away a flyer and t-shirt. I got worried that they knew something about the project that I didn't, and asked Professor Frisina if it's weird to have more than one event. Apparently the more the better. It's nice to know that she has confidence in me.

Today I finished my fact sheet (I decided against a backgrounder) and the press release for Buona Sera. I also printed a gift certificate and menu insert for Buona Sera. As of now I am making everything I want to include. When it comes down to actually presenting, whatever fits in fits in. I think I've solved the demo dilemma. I will play it while I am taking about schools. Whenever I am done with schools I will stop it. If I have time at the end I will finish it. I am going to try to make up one more press release tonight (I only have two press releases left to make), and attempt at the cover for a recipe book that I may or may not use.

I am leaning toward no glow sticks, short intro, long school part, long Buona Sera part, shorter diabetes walk part, and short wedding part.

So I only have to create three more things, but I have to print and stuff a ton of papers. Also, I have to label a few things and put the finishing touches on the survival kits.

Sick :(

Exactly one week to my presentation and I of course am sick. Just wonderful. But the good news is that I got so much done this past weekend for my campaign. I finished all of the invitations and printed them along with the cover sheet and brochures. I used up my print credits for the semester in doing so but they came out great (THANKS OWEN!!) I also made labels to stick on everything in the bride/groom survival kits and the bubbles. I have to at least write two press releases and a backgrounder. There are some other things I will try to do if I have time. Actually, I'm kind of concerned about fitting this all into 15 minutes. I need to work something out with the demo and depending how that goes cut one of the events or not talk so much about each one.

Today, the first two presenters went. It made me feel nervous because soon I will have to get up and speak in front of everyone. One person, who is not a PR major, talked endlessly about one event, which was creative, but not very developed considering it was the only event he talked about. His press release was his only give-away, and he did not take up 15 minutes. He did speak very well though. The other person, who is a PR major, also only talked about one event. Her company does not have trouble getting clients, so it was difficult for her to do much that the company doesn't already do. So, I can kind of see why she only had one event. She described it in much more detail, handed out a press release, and also gave away a cute goodie bag of juice, teddy bear pb & j sandwiches, and an apple, along with a pin. (Her client was a day care center) She was very nervous, which made me more nervous, but was ok by the end.

I hope I am not the only one who is doing more than one event. I feel like I already cut out so much that I wanted to talk about, and will still need to cut out more. I have now cut out the Wild Wedding, and am thinking about cutting the diabetes walk or only showing the demo until I finish talking about schools. It’s hard because I have already done the invitation, and I don't know if I should bother doing a press release. I am hoping that the next two days of presentations will help me gauge just how in depth I should go. Also, I hope that I do not lose my voice in the meantime, or get too sick to finish my presentation. Then of course is the whole public speaking thing, which I am not entirely comfortable with. It is the one thing in PR that I am trying to work on the most so I hope this experience will help me. At least for this topic, I am the most knowledgeable person in the room about the client. Not to mention, the client is my dad, not a big corporation. I can speak about him in a conversational way because it will just be me talking about my dad.

More about this week’s presentations and working on mine later...
